Oak Ridge Boys with special guest Marty Brown will be performing for free at the Kentucky State Fair on Sunday, August 17th.
The country and gospel vocal quartet, Oak Ridge Boys was founded in the 1940’s in Knoxville, Tennessee and began performing gospel songs in nearby Oak Ridge. During the mid-60’s, the quartet began to focus on solely country music. The quartet produced multiple hits such as “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue,” and “American Made.” The Oak Ridge Boys have taken home five Grammy Awards along with 14 other prestigious music awards ranging from Academy of Country Music Awards Top Vocal Group to the GMA Dove Awards Country Song of the Year.
Country artist and Kentucky native, Marty Brown has released four studio albums, “High and Dry,” “Wild Kentucky Skies,” “Here’s to the Honky Tonks” and “Cryin’, Lovin’, Leavin’.” Brown has a single that has charted on Billboards Hot Country Songs. Brown even competed on America’s Got Talent season eight in 2013.
Country artist Kenny Rogers will be performing a free concert with special guest Belles and Whistles at the Kentucky State Fair on Tuesday, August 19th.
Kenny Rogers is an award-winning singer-songwriter, photographer, record producer, actor, author, and entrepreneur. One of the highest-selling artists of all time with 130 million records sold worldwide, he is also an inductee of the Country Music Hall of Fame and has been voted “Favorite Singer of All Time” in a USA Today and People Magazine poll. Kenny Rogers was honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Country Music Association Awards and even has two albums featured in About.com’s “200 Most Influential Country Albums Ever.”
Belles and Whistles is a country singer-songwriter duo based in Omaha, Nebraska. They are not your average female country duo, however; they are also a mother and daughter pair! Their storytelling style shines through in their debut single “Boy Like You” (produced by Grammy-winner Don Gehman) and their Top 30 single “Harmless.” Belles and Whistles have opened for artists such as Trace Adkins, Jerrod Niemann, Brett Eldridge, Montgomery Gentry, Scotty McCreery and more.
All 2014 Turf Series Concerts are FREE with paid gate admission into the Kentucky State Fair. Both concerts will begin at 8 p.m.
