Just to keep the ball rolling with the FREE Turf Concert Series, the second night is sure to blow your mind. On Friday, Aug. 19 performing at the Kentucky State Fair on the turf of Cardinal Stadium will be Ashanti with special guest After 7!
This Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, actress and author Ashanti has been crushing the music scene since her 2002 smash hit, self-titled debut album Ashanti. Off of that album, the song “Foolish,” secured the #1 spot on SIX Billboard charts and stayed at the top for 11 consecutive weeks. She has also made Billboard history when her first three chart entries land in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. She was the first woman to accomplish such a feat, an achievement previously only attained by the Beatles.
Inspired by her own success, Ashanti created her own company and label, Written Entertainment, where she was the first artist on the label.
Not only has Ashanti topped the charts, she is also a successful actress having starred in shows like Disney animated series The Proud Family and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In addition to her TV shows, she made her film debut in Coach Carter and also John Tucker Must Die.
Additionally, Ashanti is a Broadway actress who made her stage debut performance starring as Dorothy in the Tony Award-winning Broadway adaption of the Wiz.

After 7 is making their remarkably dynamic return to the stage after a 20-year hiatus with their unmistakable sound and new Billboard Adult R&B hit, “I Want You.”
Composed of brothers Kevon, Jason and Melvin Edmonds and their longtime friend Keith Mitchell, After 7 brings their own unique sound to the Turf Concert Series. Audiences will be serenaded by their contemporary sound, which has a smooth style of the ‘60s. After 7 is heavily influenced and inspired by groups like “The Whispers, Temptations, Four Tops and Originals.”
Their debut, self-titled album, After 7, sold Platinum and yielded Two Gold Singles. The song, “Ready or Not,” climbed the billboard chart to the #1 position on R&B while the smash single, “Can’t Stop,” topped out at #6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Pop Charts. Additionally, their second and third albums achieved Gold status which helped keep the group alive at radio stations across the country.
Having shared the stage with many different artists ranging from BabyFace, Gladys Knight, M.C. Hammer, Patti LaBelle, R Kelly, Smokey Robinson to Whitney Houston. They continuously charm listeners with their timeless music, classy performances and elegant stage presence.
